In the Bible, various metaphors are used to describe the truth of the Scriptures:
a mirror (James 1:23);
fire and a hammer (Jeremiah 23:29),
a lamp (Psalm 119:105),
water (Ephesians 5:26),
a seed (1 Peter 1:23),
food (Job 23:12),
and milk (1 Peter 2:2).
Scripture reveals, consumes, breaks, illuminates, purifies, convicts, regenerates, satisfies, and nourishes the believer. It’s not enough to know the Bible; we need to obey it (James 1:22-25). K. T. Sim
