Knowing Jesus

In order to survive the Christian

walk, you need to have deep roots.

You need to really know Jesus,

and from my own experience

the storms are what cause deeper

roots to grow.

As winds press against me I learn

to lean closer into Him.

As the rains fall and my vision is blurred,

I reach for Him to lead the way.

As darkness covers every area of my

heart, His light breaks through and guides me.

The storms cause me to dig

my feet in deeper into

His Word than ever before.

And through His Word I discover 

more of who He is.

In order to stay on this narrow path

we must know the One we are following.

We must see how He walked and how

He spoke to people.

We need to see how He loved.

In order to stand up for His righteousness we

need to know what He calls righteous.

We must know what He says is sin.

We must see how He walked others

out from darkness.

There will come a day when

people will reject you.  

Others will abandon you.

People you love will be angry

by what you stand for.

You must truly know Jesus and

His heart so you know who you are

standing up for.

Because if you don’t truly know Him,

and what He stands for,

and what He asks of us,

and believe He is worthy of

losing everything for…

then you may be swayed by

what the world says

and lose sight of the ways of the kingdom.

You may walk off the narrow path

when it gets hard and lonely.

In order to follow Jesus we must stay in the Word and live by His example and want to follow Him.... even if it means losing everything else.

Jesus, He is worthy of it all.
