Just Ask

Just Ask

Isaiah 55:1 (NIV®)
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”

Marketing companies have gotten incredibly clever, haven’t they? Through your previous purchases and Internet browsing history, they know exactly where you live, where you shop, and what you purchase. From that information they have a pretty good idea of your age, education, income, and lifestyle. Then, through targeted advertising, they direct ads toward you, especially if your spending indicates that you have a lot of money! This invitation from God is exactly the opposite. He invites everyone to share in the bounty of His Kingdom—those who are thirsty but have no water, those who are hungry but have no money. His gifts come with no strings attached, no bait-and-switch maneuver where He promises the riches of His Kingdom and delivers dented cans and day-old bread. If you are thirsty for meaning in life, come to Him. If your days are filled with emptiness and despair, come to Him. His storehouses are full of good things, and all you must do is ask.

THINK ABOUT IT
Have you ever noticed that little ones have no hesitancy to ask for what they want? Then they keep asking with determined expectation! Let’s ask God with no hesitation and with much expectation for everything He has stored up for our lives.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive me for when I have underestimated both Your abundance and Your willingness to provide. May I gain a childlike expectancy of your faithful and willing provision. Thank You for Your great gifts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
