Not Overwhelmed

Not Overwhelmed

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

If you are connected to a group of Jesus-followers who are committed to sharing their lives with one another, you have heard prayer requests that will threaten to overwhelm you. Each of us has burdens that sometimes feel as if they might be too much to bear. Job loss, financial setbacks, prodigal children, illness, broken marriages, depression, addictions, pressures at school and at work—the list goes on. It is such a relief to me to know that God has not abandoned us and that we can approach Him with confidence. He has given us a Great High Priest who pleads for us and the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us even when we don’t know how we should pray. God is attuned to the cries of the hurting in a way that no human can ever be. He hears our prayers with the ears of a loving Father who has promised His presence and comfort through life’s circumstances. No matter how deep the valley of trouble seems, take your burdens to Him, knowing that you will “receive mercy and find grace.”

THINK ABOUT IT
Are you sometimes overwhelmed by the problems facing you and those you care about? How can you begin to give your concerns to the Lord?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing and encouraging me to come boldly before You with my requests. I give my burdens and concerns about __________ to You. You are strong, loving, and faithful. All glory, honor, and praise belong to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
