Shift Your Trust

Shift Your Trust

Psalm 24:1 (NLT®)
The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

Scripture is filled with declarations that God created the earth and everything and everyone in it. Genesis tells of His creative work and His abundant provision for the first people. In Psalm 50, God assures us that He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Psalm 23 says that if the Lord is our Shepherd, we will not be in want. “It’s mine. All of it,” God repeatedly says. “Will you allow Me to provide for you? Don’t you want to share in My inheritance?” These are wonderful promises, yet we wage a very real and ongoing battle in our hearts over whether we will trust Him completely or not. Sometimes we decide that yes, we will depend on Him, only to slide back into thinking, “God is not really that concerned about me. I’m the responsible party here.” I’m not encouraging you to be irresponsible—God expects you to work if you are able. I am encouraging you to shift the fundamental trust of your life from what you can do to what God can do.

THINK ABOUT IT
Before we can believe anything else in the Bible, we need to believe that God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Once we truly believe this, we can begin to trust Him and the promises He offers to His people.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I believe You are the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and You provided for both my redemption and life transformation through the cross of Jesus, Your Son. So I trust You for all of my life needs, and thank You for Your willingness to care for me. In Jesus’ name, amen
