Our Responses Matter 

Romans 6:23 (NASB®)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I think we all tend to be a little suspicious of something that is free. We think things that come to us free of charge either have strings attached or must not be worth having. We’re ingrained with the notions of “You get what you pay for” and “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” But the grace of God is absolutely free! It’s not merit-based or part of your family inheritance. You can’t earn it, achieve it, or buy it. If we got what we deserved, the wages that we earned, we would be presented with no less than a sentence of death. But God has rescued us from that fate and given us a glorious life in His presence, and He wants to bless us out of the storehouse of His riches and abundance! Don’t miss the gift of God’s grace. Don’t turn your back on it or put it off for another day. You will never be offered another gift to equal it, or that matters so much for eternity. 

THINK ABOUT IT

Is there any part of your heart where you are determined to earn any element of right standing with God? If so, humble yourself, give that up, and accept God’s free gift of grace.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me to see any area where I am still trying to earn Your acceptance and righteousness. I humbly admit that I have nothing to offer You but a life fully trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice alone for my reconciliation to You. In His name, amen.
