Test Him and See

Malachi 3:10 (NIV®)

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

This is the one place in Scripture we’re given permission to try the Lord. He says, “Test me on this one. Bring the tithe in and see if I won’t honor it in your life. See if I won’t bless you beyond your wildest imagining!” This would be my suggestion. Give your “whole tithe” to the Lord for a hundred days. Then, at the end of that period, if you don’t think God has honored that in your life, stop doing it. I don’t give because I want to look religious, and I’m not seeking the approval of anyone else. I want to know the Lord better, and I want my attitudes and actions to be pleasing in His sight. He is my Provider, so I don’t want to separate Him from my possessions—I want Him right in the middle of them.

THINK ABOUT IT
Can you recall a time when you did test the Lord regarding the tithe, and He responded as promised in this scripture? Be encouraged by His faithfulness, and let it be an encouragement to others.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I want to trust You completely, especially in what I hold the closest. Everything I have comes from Your hand, and I release it all back to You in thanksgiving and praise, so that only You have the tightest grip on my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
