Weariness & Restoration

Weariness & Restoration

Exodus 16:2-3 (NIV®)
The whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

Someone showed me an ad that said, “Lion tamer wants tamer lion.” Do you ever feel like God has given you an assignment that is too hard? Difficult relationships? Exhausting physical challenges? A dream job that isn’t? Moses probably thought so sometimes. He got the Israelites out of slavery and then had to deal with their many needs. They didn’t have pantries filled and freezers stocked and rows of portable toilets. He had to settle their disputes. He had to remind them that God had delivered them, not punished them. I’m sure there were days when Moses thought, “I’ve had enough. I’m done.” Moses surely was physically and mentally exhausted and needed restoration every day. If you’re doing something significant for the Lord, you’re going to get weary. But Moses learned that God is our Provider—not just of our physical needs, but our emotional needs too.

THINK ABOUT IT
We want to be careful to limit expressions of our weariness, but instead be quick to ask the Lord for His strength and refreshing. He is able to provide everything we need, and more than we can sometimes imagine.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, my experience is inadequate, and I need Your wisdom. Open my heart to understand and my eyes to see so that I might know Your direction. I trust You for the provision of every need—may Your glory be evident to all. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Blessings,
