Take the Mystery Out

Take the Mystery Out

Psalm 5:3 (NIV®)
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Prayer is a mystery to many of us. You may have grown up in a church tradition or environment where prayer was the domain of someone on a platform or words to be recited from a book. Prayer is not difficult, and it is available to all of us. Prayer is an expression of what’s in your heart to God. I encourage you to move beyond “God bless us, every one,” and begin to pray specifically. Start in the morning, and talk to God throughout the day. Pray when you open your eyes, offering your day’s words and actions to the Lord. Praise Him for Your salvation. Thank Him for His provision. Pray for the people in your family by name. Pray for the decisions you will make at home and work. Pray when you hear a siren, that all involved will be safely delivered from the crisis. Prayer is not complicated; prayer is a way of cooperating with the Holy Spirit and asking for His wisdom and intervention in your life and the lives of others.

THINK ABOUT IT
If you do not have a habit of talking to the Lord, then this is good advice: Start in the morning by saying, “Good morning, God,” and talk to Him throughout the day!

PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen.
