Be a Good Friend
Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT®)
“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also
acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here
on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.”
Have you ever known someone who would acknowledge you in private but not
in public? Perhaps, as a young person, you had a neighborhood friend
who was glad to hang out with you at home but would not sit with you in
the cafeteria at school. Perhaps you have a coworker who is friendly in
private but ignores you when others are present. That scenario is
painful, no matter your age. But what about us and our relationship with
the Lord? Are we willing to acknowledge our Savior publicly, or are we
afraid of what others might think? If our relationship with Him is
strong and healthy, negative comments shouldn’t bother us. In fact, we
should be proud to stand up for Him, and tell what He means to us and
what He has done for us.
THINK ABOUT IT
We must never forget that whatever we choose to do here on
Earth—acknowledge Him or deny Him—will be reciprocated by Jesus before
our Father in Heaven.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive me for ever not owning my relationship with You
before others. Jesus, You are my greatest Source of life, and I want
all those around me to realize I belong to You. Help me be a good friend
and always honor You. In Your name, amen.
