Proverbs 15:30 (NLT®)
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.

Several years ago, I had a doctor’s appointment that impacts me to this day. He entered the room and asked, “How are you?” “I’m fine,” I replied. “How are you?” His response—“I’m wonderful!”—caught me by surprise. It was a routine visit with not much “health stuff” to talk about, and the conversation took an interesting turn as he began to regale me with all the good things going on in the world. “The world is filled with good news. Did you know that?” He pulled out a thick binder filled with reports from around the world about medical advances, nutritional improvements, and other positive things. The medical part of the visit was secondary to his avalanche of good news. I left there not just surprised, but convicted. We often focus on the bad in the world—and there’s plenty of it—while failing to recognize and tell about all the good things God has done.

THINK ABOUT IT
Can you imagine if you filled a binder with reports of all the good things He has done for you and others? You wouldn’t be able to carry it!

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me focus on all the good things You are doing in the earth so I might bring bright light into areas of my influence. I want to be a source of Your truth and foster joy in the hearts of others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
