A Kind Brother

A Kind Brother
Hebrews 2:10-11 (NLT®)
Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

We’ve all seen those television shows where the big brother is embarrassed to be seen with his younger siblings in public. He reluctantly acknowledges their existence at home because he has to. But out in public—no way. His instructions for his brothers and sisters go something like this: “Don’t look at me. Don’t talk to me. If you even come near me, I’ll act like I don’t know you.” Aren’t you glad that Jesus is not a brother like that? As a matter of fact, He is the exact opposite. He went to the cross and took all of our faults and failures on Himself. He traded His righteousness for our sinfulness and died for us so we would not have to suffer the punishment we deserve. Right now, He is at our Father’s throne—not telling on us or complaining about us—but pleading for us. He is not ashamed of us, even though He has every right to be. Jesus is our Savior, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, our Brother, and our Friend.

THINK ABOUT IT
“Jesus asked, ‘Who is my mother? Who are my brothers? … Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!’” (Matthew 12:48, 50, NLT®)

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating a heavenly family that I can be a part of through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. I can now call You “Father” and know Jesus as Savior and Brother. Lord, help me honor my heavenly family in all I do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
