Eyes Forward

Eyes Forward

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV®)
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

It’s easy to get emotionally stuck on some “wrong” in our past. Something we did. Something we should have done but didn’t. Someone we hurt, or manipulated, or lied about, or something we exaggerated to get ahead at work. The possibilities for sin are endless! But the Lord doesn’t want us to carry the baggage of our sin around with us. If you’ve repented, if you’ve come in humility and said to the Lord, “I was wrong,” and you’ve turned in a new direction, your sin has not just been forgiven—it’s been forgotten. I’m not excusing sloppy living. If you’re living in rebellion and wickedness, you need to stop because it will destroy you. But if you have asked the Lord’s forgiveness and are determined to walk with Him, stop looking in the rearview mirror and look ahead because He has wonderful things planned for you. Can you see? He is doing a new thing!

THINK ABOUT IT
Is there anything God has forgiven in your life that you have not? If so, forgive yourself and resolve to see it through the blood of Jesus—just as God does.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your forgiveness and deliverance from an empty life into the Kingdom of Your Son. I choose to rejoice today and trust in Your gracious love, strength, and faithfulness. Holy Spirit, help me receive all God intends. In Jesus’ name, amen.
