Out of Alignment Prayer

 Out of Alignment

Mark 11:25
“When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Prayer can certainly change our circumstances or the people around us. But prayer is also about initiating a change in us. Prayer facilitates alignment between ourselves and God, and sometimes the alignment is about obedience. Prayer isn’t always just about changing the immediate things. Sometimes we have to pray about the things that are behind us as well. Our lives so often are defined by what has happened in the past, and Jesus tells us here that we have to let those things go. When you forgive someone, it not only releases them, it unleashes spiritual forces on your behalf. As we open the dialogue with God, and we listen to Him, and we make room in our lives for the work of the Holy Spirit, most typically we are the ones who are transformed. We forgive because we have been forgiven, and we forgive because it releases God’s favor in our lives.

THINK ABOUT IT
Do you struggle to forgive a person or people who have hurt you in the past? Give your hurts to God and allow Him to free you from the bondage of unforgiveness.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, as You have graciously forgiven me, I also forgive ____________ for offense. Please bless them. I choose to cancel their debt to me right now because You cancelled mine when You forgave me. Thank You for setting me free. In Jesus’ name, amen.
