The Balance of Your Time
Psalm 1:1 (NIV®)
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.
This verse tells us to not spend our discretionary time with people who insult the Lord if we want to experience God’s blessings. Most of us have jobs and other responsibilities, and not all our time is ours to do with as we would like. I believe God arranges those circumstances so we will be in the midst of people who need to hear the truth about Jesus. I know it’s not easy to work in a difficult place, but it’s likely God has sent you there on a mission. Pray not that you will be delivered, but that the people with whom you work will be delivered! But don’t give the balance of your time to people who diminish your faith because they will unconsciously bring license for ungodliness to you. We need the strength that comes from being with people of a similar mind and worldview, so seek out their company and their encouragement.
THINK ABOUT IT
Surrounding ourselves with those who love, honor, and obey the Lord will strengthen every part of our lives.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me be so aligned to Your assignment for my life that I can endure hard places with ungodly people, expecting Your opportunities in our lives. Then, help me find encouragement from Your people and not the world in order to persevere and glorify You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
