Learning to Wash Well
1 John 1:7 (NASB®)
If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us
from all sin.
You have to teach kids how to be clean. My parents sent me back to wash
my face and my hands many times. We had very different standards of
cleanliness, and they could see dirt where I didn't see any! We're the
same way with the Lord. As we come out of the world and begin to grow
and mature in Him, we want to be clean of things we have participated in
and accepted. How do we get clean? Through believing in the redemptive
work of Jesus on the cross and accepting it as our own. We want to be
more like Jesus, so we model our attitudes, words, and behavior to be
like His. We guard our hearts and tongues. We spend more time with godly
people and things than with ungodly people and things. We ask
forgiveness for anything that hinders our relationship with Him and our
witness for Him. Soon, we’ll be able to see those spiritual smudges, and
cleanliness will be our heart’s desire.
THINK ABOUT IT
The people you choose to spend your discretionary time with form a good barometer of your current heart condition.
PRAYER
Heaven Father, I renounce evil because I want to be clean and pure
before You. Teach me to walk in Your light—grant me wisdom and
understanding to fulfill the assignments You created me for. Establish
me in Your truth and lead me in paths of righteousness. In Jesus’ name,
amen.
