Taking Action

Romans 12:6-8 (NIV®)
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

I’m often asked, "Pastor, what's the church going to do about _______?" I usually smile and say, “You and I are the Church!” God gives each of us spiritual gifts, as well as talents and abilities, and He wants us to use them to build His Church and advance His Kingdom. So, my thinking about “What is the church going to do?” is the same as the Apostle Paul’s. If your gift is leading, then start leading. If your gift is teaching, then start teaching. If it is serving, then start serving. Honor Him with your talents and abilities, too. When we give ourselves to pursuing God’s Kingdom purposes, needs are met, and good things happen.

Where and how are you regularly serving the Lord with the gifts, talents, and abilities He has given to you?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You have entrusted me with many gifts. You also inspire me through Your Holy Spirit. Grant me wisdom to know how to serve You in the manner that brings You the most pleasure and glory. May all Your highest purposes be fulfilled in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
