Be Still & Quiet
Psalm 46:10 (NIV®)
“Be still and know that I am God.”
Are you prepared to receive from the Lord? The Holy Spirit wants to
comfort you, empower you, teach you, lead you, and inspire you—but He
will not kick down the door and force you to accept His help. I
encourage you to make yourself willing and available to hear His voice.
Begin the habit of meditating on the things of God. Open your heart and
mind to the Holy Spirit. Be still and quiet. Give Him your worry and
fear. Let go of your anger and anxiety. Set aside any resentment and
bitterness. Tell the Spirit of God He is welcome in your life. Fill your
mind with God’s Word. Remind yourself of all He is and all He has done.
When we learn to receive from the Lord in these ways, we will be filled
with His presence. He will renew our strength. He will give us the
peace we will need to live with joy, in spite of our circumstances. He
will fill us with the wisdom we need to carry out the plans He has for
us.
THINK ABOUT IT
Ask God to show you anything preventing you from being still and quiet.
Then, repent and release it to Him, trading it for His presence and
peace.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive me for allowing attitudes or circumstances to
interfere with my being still and quiet before You. I want to know Your
presence and peace, to listen for Your voice, and to welcome You into
all my life. Lord, I am willing and available. In Jesus’ name, amen.
