Galatians 6:7 (NLT®)
Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
I don’t think Paul is issuing a threat, but I do think he is warning us against treating God as if He is naïve or unaware. The reality is that many of us pursue the things of the world instead of the things of God. When we think we have experienced all the fun the world has to offer, we turn to Him as the final step toward maturity. Or when we are faced with a crisis that is beyond our control, we see Him as our only hope. I assure you, God cannot be outsmarted. He sees and knows not only our actions, but our thoughts and attitudes, and He will allow them to bear fruit in our lives, for good or ill. It’s a much better plan to cooperate with Him—to receive His counsel, accept His coaching, and yield to His boundaries. There will come a time when you will want His guidance, His protection, or His provision. In order to receive those benefits in the future, I encourage you to yield to His authority as fully as you can today.
THINK ABOUT IT
Freedom and blessings are ours when we submit to God. Resolve to listen to and obey the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I praise Your name forever—all wisdom and power belong to You. You change times and seasons, set up leaders and remove them, grant wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. You reveal deep and hidden things and know what is covered by darkness. Light dwells with You. I rejoice, for You have granted me wisdom and made Your power available. You have given me a spirit of wisdom and revelation that I might know You better. You hold my future—I will not fear! In Jesus’ name, amen. (Adapted from Daniel 2:19-23)
