Remember His Promise

Remember His Promise
John 14:18 (NIV®)
“I will not leave you as orphans.”

Can you imagine the anxiety in the disciples’ faces and the abandonment they felt as Jesus explained that He would soon leave them? They still had so much to learn from Him! None of them had commanded the wind to be still or the lame to walk, and they knew they were not equipped to carry on His work. Then, Jesus made an amazing promise: “You will be okay. I’m not going to leave you alone, unprotected, or without resources. I will send the Holy Spirit, and He will be your guide.” That amazing promise is just as true for us today. But is there a little voice inside your head that starts whispering when you decide to trust the Lord? Like me, you may hear, “You’d better not take that step of faith. You don’t want to push this trust thing too far. What if it’s not true? You’d better protect yourself.” When that happens, I choose to remember Jesus’ promise: “I will not leave you alone.”

THINK ABOUT IT
The Holy Spirit helps us, teaches us, unites us with Jesus, and empowers our Christian life for God’s purposes.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of help. Even when I feel alone, unprotected, or without resources, Your Holy Spirit is present to comfort and guide me. Remind me to look to You, trust You, and always depend on You in all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
