The Gift of Peace

The Gift of Peace
John 14:27 (NLT®)
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Jesus did not live a conflict-free life. In fact, His life was marked by conflict. But have you noticed Jesus was always filled with remarkable peace? In the face of violent storms, Jesus was peaceful. In the face of demonized people, Jesus was peaceful. When He faced a multitude of hungry people and didn’t have food for them, Jesus was peaceful. Standing before the tomb of His good friend, Jesus was peaceful. In the hall of judgment of an angry pagan governor, Jesus was peaceful. Before Roman soldiers, intent on beating Him to the point of death, Jesus was peaceful. Paul reminded the Philippians, “Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then, you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (4:6-7 NLT®).

THINK ABOUT IT
In this world, there is only one peace to calm our fears and worries, and that is the peace of Jesus.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You are my hope—I put my trust in You. When I am afraid, I will seek You for comfort. May Jesus’ peace and contentment saturate me. Thank You for delivering me from every evil scheme. I rejoice in the majesty of my Lord Jesus. In His name, amen.
