He Knows

He Knows
Hebrews 2:14 (NIV®)
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.

When we read about Jesus casting out demons, calming the sea, and raising the dead, it’s easy to think that, because He was the Son of God, He must have had a pretty easy life. If you have that imagination of Jesus—a spiritually powerful but privileged man, who couldn’t possibly know how to relate to you—that’s not His story. He grew up in a little town in the northern part of Israel. His hands would have been calloused from working in Joseph’s carpentry shop. He would have worn simple clothes and eaten simple food. Even after His deity was revealed, He experienced hunger, thirst, weariness, and temptation. Don’t ever think Jesus can’t relate to you. He understands us in all our weaknesses and willingly took our burdens on Himself because He loves us and wants us to share in the power of His resurrection.

THINK ABOUT IT
Jesus was fully God, but He was simultaneously fully human—in body, mind, emotions, and will. He was tempted, just as we are—but He never sinned. So, He understands the struggles we face today.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus and the salvation provided for me through His work on the cross. Thank You that He knows and understands everything about me yet doesn’t abandon me. Holy Spirit, give me a greater understanding of the power of His resurrection in my life. In His name, amen.
