2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV®)
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are
being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which
comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Some of us imagine being a Christ-follower means God has picked us up,
dusted us off, and given us a fresh coat of paint. That’s not at all
what the Bible teaches. It says to be in Christ—to accept Jesus of
Nazareth as Lord, Christ, and King of your life—means you become a
totally new creation. I know I look like the old Allen. I’ve still got a
southern accent, and I still love junk food. But the truth is, in
Christ, I still have become a new person. Yes, my sins have been
forgiven. But the Holy Spirit continues to transform me so I might
better reflect the likeness and glory of Christ. When you follow Jesus,
you will have a different set of desires and abilities than you had
before Jesus—and you will have a far better future!
THINK ABOUT IT
We have a new beginning when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord of
our entire lives. We are adopted into God’s family and have an eternal
home in His presence. Until then, the Holy Spirit lives in us to help us
be all God desires.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I want to be like Jesus and have His love for You, with
His compassion for people. I want to have His priorities as I live and
minister in this world. Holy Spirit, transform me so I might reflect the
likeness and glory of Christ to everyone I encounter. In His name,
amen.
