Count Your Blessings

1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV®)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

We are faced with challenges everywhere we look. They are pressing on our relationships, our health, our finances, our jobs, and more. But there are very few things that are more spiritually powerful than when God’s people give thanks to the Lord. Thankfulness pushes against the despair. It breaks the stranglehold of darkness over our thoughts and emotions. It affects the way the people around us feel, too. If the pressures of this season feel overwhelming, I encourage you to write down at least one thing you can be thankful for. Once you start the list, it will be easier to see all the blessings God has poured over your life. If you’re struggling to think of even one thing, begin with God’s goodness and His love for you. They are greater than any human can really comprehend, and they will endure far beyond any earthly trial we will experience.

THINK ABOUT IT
When you feel the world closing in around you, count your blessings—and give thanks to the Lord!

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great love for us and for the grace and mercy You have shown us. You are greater than all the forces arrayed in opposition to Your purposes. Thank You for the victory unfolding around us, even when we may not be able to see it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
