Psalm 90:14 (NIV®)
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
We have so much, yet we seem hard-wired to be discontent. We want more things, better things, newer things, and more expensive things. We want things that are at least as nice as what our neighbor has, and hopefully a little bit nicer. God surely knew the heart of every human when He commanded, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house … or anything that belongs to your neighbor” (Exodus 20:17). But many of us have learned the hard way that having more things doesn’t necessarily make us happier. For some of us, “more” never seems to be enough. This verse from Psalms is a wonderful prayer for believers who want to realign their priorities and put God at the center of their days. I guarantee, if you will take your focus off acquiring “more” and choose to focus on the love and extravagant provision God has given you, you will be filled with joy and gladness beyond what any material possession can bring.
THINK ABOUT IT
Thank God for His provisions in your life; you might find others will hunger for what you have in the Lord.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your abundant provision—everything I need for life and godliness. Forgive me for withholding anything that belongs to You. Today, I turn away from any greed or covetousness and choose contentment. I repent of trusting in anything more than You for my security. In Jesus' name, amen.
