1 Peter 5:10-11 (NIV®)
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
It has become fashionable in some Christian circles to believe if you are a faithful follower of Jesus, you will never have to suffer, and that if you are suffering, it is because your faith or vision is small, or you are spiritually inadequate in some way. This is a very enticing message, but it is false. The Bible clearly tells us that being a Christ-follower does not remove us from the arena of human suffering. Just look at the lives of His earliest followers! What the Bible does promise is that God will not abandon us during those hours, days, and even seasons of suffering. Instead, it promises that God will restore us and make us strong and steadfast.
THINK ABOUT IT
We may stumble and even be knocked to the ground, but God will help us back up. To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your power at work within and through me to renew, restore, and deliver. Even in the midst of my suffering, You are writing the ending of my story. I thank You for the blood of Jesus Christ that provides forgiveness, hope, strength, and steadfastness. In His name, amen.
