Fresh, Yet Unchanging
Psalm 119:10-11 (NASB®)
With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.
I think the wisest, most contented people I know are those who spend consistent time in God’s Word. Not only do they have God’s message for us in their minds when they need it, they see fresh things in it whenever they read the same words again. I have read the Bible from cover to cover several times, and it seems like I get something new from it every time I open the Book. Yes, I read from different translations, but it is more than that. I have changed since I read it last. I am in a different season of life. The world around me is changing. The challenges I face are changing. But God’s truth for us never changes. The words may sound a little different coming from one translation or another, but the truth is there to motivate us, guide us, refresh us, and reassure us. Open God’s Word and allow it to speak to you, and He will show you something new every day.
THINK ABOUT IT
If you have not engaged in a Bible reading plan, begin one today. You will be amazed how God will use this discipline to speak into your life and, subsequently, into the lives of others through you.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me spend significant time each day reading Your Word in a thorough manner and trusting You for anything I do not fully understand. But may I obey what I do understand and trust You for the life change it will bring. In Jesus’ name, amen
