Unwavering Source

Psalm 16:8-9 (NLT®)

I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.

People trust a lot of things as the source of their lives. Some people put their trust in their family and friends because they assume those people will always be there for them. Others trust their education and the doors and opportunities those degrees will open for them. Higher education is very expensive, after all, and there should be a return on that investment. Still, others trust themselves. They are sure their intellect, their drive, their strength of will, and sheer determination will allow them to accomplish their goals. There is nothing inherently wrong with any of these things, but they do have one thing in common: They all are changing resources. There is only one source that never changes, and that is Almighty God. He will never become temperamental and stop loving you. He will never grow old and lose His influence. He will never age and lose His wisdom. For all these reasons, we should rejoice.

THINK ABOUT IT

People and things of the earth waver. They change and sometimes let us down, but God is our constant. He is by our side no matter what. It is worth the effort to align your priorities with His perspectives.

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your unchanging character. You are the foundation of my stability, provision, protection, wisdom, and love. Help me never forget that You are my only true Source and Rock. In Jesus’ name, amen.
