Romans 5:3-5 (NIV®)
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
We find ourselves in a season where it seems we’re being forced to make difficult decisions every day. We’re facing problems we’ve never seen before. We’re being asked to adapt to unfamiliar circumstances. I have a suggestion: Instead of complaining, let's just decide to do difficult things. Let's resolve to see the gospel proclaimed in our homes and communities. Let’s determine to see Jesus’ name spoken without hesitation in our public places. Let’s do our part to see His Kingdom extended and His will done on Earth as it is in Heaven. We’re constructing a new normal, so let’s persevere toward godliness. Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to hone our character so we desire truthfulness, integrity, and purity.
THINK ABOUT IT
We might wish this assignment had gone to someone else. But we're the ones God has called to be about His business in this season, so let’s get to work!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I set my face toward You and Your purpose for my life. I choose to throw off anything hindering me and repent of any entangling sin. I intend to persevere in my assignment—help me overcome all opposition. Strengthen and uphold me so I might not lose heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
