In Jesus’ Name
2 Timothy 1:7-8 (NIV®)
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord.
As believers, we’re in an awkward position: We’re promoting a product we can’t personally deliver. I can’t go online and order your salvation. I can’t forgive your sins or wash away your guilt and shame. I can’t restore your broken relationships. I can’t heal your diseases. Neither can you. In our own strength, the kingdom of darkness is not frightened of us. But when we acknowledge we need God’s help and come in the authority of Jesus’ name, all those things become possible. So, when “Who do you think you are?” starts playing in my head, my response is, “I am Allen, the country boy who has shoveled more manure than most people I know. But I am coming in the name of Almighty God, the King of kings and Lord of lords.” That is the authority you are coming in, too.
THINK ABOUT IT
In our strength, we cannot save, heal, or deliver—but our Lord certainly can!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, through Jesus’ blood, I am redeemed out of the hand of the Devil. Thank You for Your love, which is greater than any challenge of evil—nothing can separate me from Your love in Christ Jesus. Lord, help me trust in and stand in Your authority. In Jesus’ name, amen.
