We Need Jesus

We Need Jesus

1 Timothy 1:15 (NIV®)
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.

The Jesus-story is awkward and uncomfortable until you understand, like the Apostle Paul, that you’re a sinner who needs a Savior. You’re not inherently good, you can’t earn your way to Heaven, and your best expressions of kindness and morality will leave you far short of the standards of Almighty God. The truth is, our wickedness put Jesus on the cross. We crucified Him just as surely as the Roman soldiers did. We have a desire for the power of God and the miraculous, but what precedes those is our recognition that we need a Savior. God’s standards for righteousness are holiness and purity, and because God doesn’t grade on a curve, we all, quite simply, need Jesus.

THINK ABOUT IT
Sin comes naturally to humans, and we cannot overcome sin on our own. We need a Savior. We need Jesus, who can pardon us through His sacrifice on the cross.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I believe Jesus is Your only begotten Son, who lived a sinless life, yet was punished on a cross for my sin. Thank You for Jesus’ sacrifice, and the salvation and spiritual freedom I have through my faith in Him. Jesus, I ask You to be Lord of my entire life. In Your name, amen.
