Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome
Joel 2:28-32
And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons
and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young
men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will
pour out my Spirit in those days.
In my experience with the Lord, when He gives insight and understanding,
He’s not a dictator. The Spirit of God will not force you to cooperate,
to yield, to give your time or your treasure, or to invest your
thoughts. But you’ll be awakened to it. It’s not usually like a blinding
light, so that you have no choice. It’s more like walking outdoors, and
catching a whiff of smoke, and realizing someone started a fire. So,
you walk around to try to figure out where the fire is—especially if it
smells like someone is cooking something good on it. In my life, that’s
generally how it begins. When understanding comes to you, it may seem
like something faint. But if you walk toward it, and you care about it,
and you listen, and you’re trying to see, and you try to orient yourself
to figure out how to receive it more, then you find some clarity on
what’s happening. That’s the choice point. Am I going to choose
obedience? Am I going to change? Am I going to repent? Am I going to
align myself more fully with the Lord?
THINK ABOUT IT
You can choose to either follow God or follow your own way, but when we
consistently decide to follow Him, God’s blessings are released.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, awaken Your people and pour out Your Spirit upon us in
our generation. We thirst for Your presence in our midst. We are not
content to rest at a distance. We want to see Jesus exalted. Grant us
boldness, discernment, and courage to take our place in Your purposes.
Strengthen us when we are weary. Only Your great strength can sustain
us. Our trust is in You, Almighty God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
