If We Sincerely Ask

If We Sincerely Ask …
1 John 1:9 (NIV®)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

I have met many people who are immobilized by shame. Shame comes because of humiliating experiences in our lives, whether we caused them or were simply caught up in them. Sometimes, we carry shame because of things we did in our lives apart from Christ. No matter the cause, we can end up feeling unredeemable. It is even harder when there are living people who are casualties of our actions. Shame attaches itself to us, and we shut down emotionally and spiritually. But, we can move forward, despite all those circumstances, because Jesus died on the cross for our sins. When we humble ourselves before Him and sincerely ask Him to forgive our sins, He will be faithful to forgive us and cleanse us. When you feel stuck in memories of your past, do not allow the enemy to convince you that you are beyond the reach of Jesus. Remember what He has done and what He has promised to do, then ask Him for His forgiveness.

THINK ABOUT IT
Guilt and shame are lies of the enemy. Seek God’s healing and freedom. He will listen, give you guidance, and deliver you.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your mercy—I cannot bring freedom and deliverance to myself. I accept Your provision for my life. Forgive me of my sins, as I forgive those who sin against me. I choose to live in such a way that Jesus might be honored through my life. I receive Him as Lord of all I am and rejoice that, in Christ, I am free of guilt and shame. I am a child of the Living God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
