Standing In Our Faith
1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a
people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who
called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a
people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy.
God has blessed our nation in the most remarkable ways throughout our
history. The Great Awakening changed New England and put the moral
backbone in the colonists to enable them to stand up to an oppressive
king, leading us to freedom as a nation. Another revival in our nation
gave us the moral courage to address the problems that brought forth the
civil war. Change does not come easily. We will not slouch our way to a
better future. We will do it with courage, determination, and strength.
Every generation must choose, and our nation needs us to stand in our
faith. God is our Source, and only He can give us a future filled with
hope and promise.
THINK ABOUT IT
Our willingness to follow God creates a straight path toward His blessings for future generations.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your people in the earth. Thank You for
Your Church and the significant role You have assigned to us. Lord, we
are a nation in need of healing—physically and spiritually. We ask for
Your mercy. Stir the hearts of Your people to cry out and yield
themselves to You with great earnestness. Let the fear of the Lord grow
in our hearts. You are a God who heals, restores, delivers, and renews,
and we ask You to look upon us today in grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
